Why would it just stop working?

Have you tried re-installing your DVD burning application?

Depending on the software you are using, if the thing
just stopped, there should be a colorful error message.
If you look at the log type info that Nero likes to
output, you'd get some hint of when the process
broke.

I don't have a lot of DVD burning experience, but I
did have a problem once, just after using some
virtual CD software. That is one of those pieces of
software, where you can mount an ISO, and the software
makes it look to the system, like it is a CD drive
with a disk in the drive. Well, that virtual CD
confused the DVD burning program, and would cause it to
lock up. So think back, to any CD or DVD software you've
installed lately, for a potential culprit.

And check Event viewer or where ever you'd expect error
messages to go, to see if there are any hints about the
source of the problem (like "device busy" or something).
