I have checked out the article on microsoft about this error
message. The
only problem is that there is no advanced tab in the device
manager. There
is no way that we can update the computers or hubs (there are
at a business)
so I need to be able to turn off the message. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I checked out what you suggested and fall there was were options for
graphic
controllers and monitor drivers. So this isn't an option either but

Your looking under Universal Serial Bus controllers in device
manager,
right..?
Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24CD
You should see something similar to the above, key word "enhanced"
right
click on the above entry if it exists, does it..? This should reveal
a menu
window, select properties, see the advanced tab..?
Cheers

The problem is that in the device manager there is no advance tab

my devices. So there is no checkbox to turn off usb error

to know how to find the advance properties of the usb universal
controller.
The computers that are affected by this are running Windows XP
Professional,
one has sp2 and one has sp1 and one has no service packs.
Thanks,

When posing questions of this sort it's really helpful to potential
responders if they have a clear idea of the precise problem and
software/hardware that's involved. To that end...
1. From your description there are three machines involved here, right? Are
they all OEM machines? The same make & model?
2. Do you know the make & model of the motherboards involved? Are they the
same in each machine?
3. Is there any reason that two of the machines have not been updated to
SP2?
4. Is it your impression that all three machines did not come equipped with
USB 2.0 capability? That they had only USB 1.0 (1.1) capability and have
never been updated for USB 2.0 capability? All three of these machines are
quite old?
5. Has this problem re the "Hi-speed USB device..." message appearing just
recently occurred? Presumably your users have been using USB devices in the
past. What has been their experience?
6. Are you inferring that you're willing to work with USB 1.0 (1.1) rather
than USB 2.0 and that all you're interested in is finding a way to get that
"Hi-speed USB device..." message to disappear?
So please respond to the above if you want to go on and include any other
pertinent details re the problem you're experiencing.
Anna
