A few days ago I was using my desktop a few days ago just typing out some
documents and working on spread sheets, checking email etc. I shut down the
computer and went to sleep.
when I got to my computer the next morning it was switched on in that the
fans were running, but nothing was happening. I tried to hold the power
button to switch it off, but after holding it for ten seconds it was still
not switching off.
I then unplugged the computer, left it for a few hours and plugged it back
in. as soon as it was plugged in, the fans started running again, but
NOTHING was happening. The screen stays black and it is doing nothing
besides running the fans.
Any suggestions as to what's wrong would be appreciated.
Does the hard drive LED blink on and off at all? If so then that
would indicate that problem is most likely with the monitor.
No indication of hard drive activity, no video, and no beeps would
indicate a major component failure, possibly the power supply
(partial) but most likely the motherboard.
Good luck
