thanks david for your reply.
i was able to navigate all the way to the "properties tab," next to the
"troubleshooting tab," when selecting the mouse icon in my control
panel.......but i can't get the "properties tab" to open; and that is where
the driver update and rollbacks are, at least that is the way i initially got
to the driver update, in the first place.
is there another way to get into the mouse hardware properties?
whether you can lead me to that solution, or not; i want to extend my
thanks, for your reply and attempt to assist me.
respectfully,
technot

driver. You will need to use the keyboard to get there using the windows key, arrows and tab to

I have made a very stupid "mouse functionality" hardware device update
selection and now find myself unable to use my desktop as my mouse pointer
won't move; so i can't select anything on my computer.
Specifically, i did the following:
Clicked on "start,"
Then "control panel"
Clicked on "mouse icon"
clicked on mouse icon and that opened the "HID-compliant mouse Properties"
window
which opened the "mouse Properties" window
I selected the "hardware tab"
selected the "properties" box in the lower right hand corner of the window
which opened the "HID-compliant mouse Properties" window
selected the "driver tab"
selected "update driver"
selected "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
clicked "next"
selected "Don't search. I will select the driver to install"
this is where i made the critical error: selecting the "HID-compliant device
driver"
selected "next"
then "finish"
now my mouse pointer is stuck in one place on my screen and i don't know how
to undo this most stupid and embarrassing error
my desktop is now unusable
i am indebted to anyone kind and knowlegeable enough to help me undo this
error and restore functionality to my desktop.
many thanks, in advance
