Guys like him are the reason small claims courts exist.
I bet he has a server or workstation-class board stuffed in his
desktop. That he's not giving you the model # , suggests he knows that.
I believe this too. He didn't reply to my questions until I threatened
to file complaints with craigslist, paypal, and the post office for
mail fraud (since it was mailed). I did some looking online today, and
mall claims court would be $25 to file and I could get the court here
since it was mailed. It doesn't mean he would pay up quickly. So, I
would still rather sell them honestly than go that route, but I am
considering it.
He did give me a model number for the moterboard but not a brand name.
Easy enough given model number to google it and find out who made it.
He has bene a real jerk offering to show me it working on his
motherboard if I drive there and pay him for his time. And he offered
to sell me his motherboard. But I'm not giving him more money. And I
don't need another motherboard. This was to go into two computers that
function fine. It was just an upgrade.
What WAS the ad, exactly?
Subject line: Apacer DDR 1GB - 333 Mhz PC2700
Body of the ad:
Apacer DDR 1GB REG - 333 Mhz PC2700 For Desktop Computer.
184pin
The Desktop computer part is off. It's incompatible with most desktop
motherboards. (and some of the ones it will work with, will just ignore
the part about it being registered)
Backward compatible with DDR 266/DDR333/DDR400 MHz motherboards
If the processor in question was actually running at 400fsb, the pc2700
may have issues running at all.
Well, it can't hit 3200 OR 4000MB/S. So THAT's misleading.
Perform Data Transfer Rate up to 2100 MB/s ;2700 MB/s ;3200 MB/s ;4000
MB/s

Asking 75.00 OBO. It is in good working condition. We have 3 of them,
the price 75.00 for 1 if you want all 3 give me an offer.
------------------------------------
I purchased all 3 via mail since we were having snowy weather and it
was a long drive. I bought them on November 30th, but they were
intended for Christmas, so I did not actually test them until
Christmas. I know, that was my mistake. Most people are honest, and the
ad title was exactly the type of memory I needed. I had his mailing
address, so I didn't think it would be a problem.
Sell it as pc2700 registered. The price new looks to be around
$95/stick. You should be able to recover most of your investment.
