Depending on the type of battery, using the AC all the time
can over-charge the battery and shorten the life. It
depends on whether the battery is old or new technology and
how the AC powers the computer. If the AC power can run
the computer without the battery installed or can be
switched so the battery is not over-charged, it should not
hurt the battery.
If the battery is not in the circuit as a "shock absorber
[capacitor]" the surges that come through the cheap adapter
can damage the computer.
Request the full specs on the adapter for such details as
ripple, voltage, output, must be enough to run the computer
and charge the battery. Ask if the will warranty the laptop
, in writing,for damage caused by their adapter?
