Thanks for the tip on usenet etiquette. (not being a smartass...) But,
I also appreciate you responding on the other board, but I didn't even
have to go through your alternate operating system steps. I found out
through due diligence that ASUS motherboards are famous for this around
the 24 month mark, and it's been that way for years. By the end of the
day, my board nearly totally died. I'm slaving it right now to get the
data off my hard drive before I pull out the sledge hammer.

And don't buy ASUS motherboards! Unless you only need it for 2 years.
