Your problem lies elsewhere. It probably is due to the fact that your
SATA
HDD has been incorrectly connected. Strangely enough, I believe your
SATA
HDD must be connected to the SATA4 connector, and *not* the SATA1
connector.
Closely review your motherboard's user manual and check this out.

Also check out whether there's a need to set a BIOS element in a
particular
way for a non-RAID configuration, such as yours. The defaults should
be
OK,
but maybe something has changed in the interim.

I don't think the boot priority order will be a factor here, but
check it
out in the BIOS to ensure the system detects the SATA HDD and is
properly
reflected in the boot priority order.

I'm assuming that the installation of the XP operating system went
without
any problems. You may have to make a fresh install anyway. But first
check
out the above.
