May I ask you a couple of last questions about the AIW card and ATI MMC
software?
~ What version of MMC do you use? I use 9.08.
~ If you ever used versions 9.13 to 9.15, then do you have the same problems
as I have described here:
http://gfc.my.contact.bg/tests/LowResolution-video-in-MMC-9-15/
~ Did you had any problems installing Remote Wonder 3.02 to 3.04 as I have
described here:
http://gfc.my.contact.bg/tests/ATI-RW-3-04-setup/
~ Have you ever tried: primary=monitor + secondary=TV-display, then use
TV-application in easylook mode on the TV-display? Whatever I do, when it
goes easylook mode, it will always grab the primary monitor, so I cannot
work on it. And if I set the TV-disaply as primary, the monitor will be
free, but every single application I start will appear on the TV-display and
I have to fetch it behind the video, so I cannot work that way either.
PS:
I sent a lot of requests to ATI support and catalyst crew to fix simple
problems in their software... All the support they offer is time wasting
support, and try to get rid of me. Further more one of the disks that came
with the AIW card is defective. ATI seem to have good hardware, but they do
not deserve our money and our respect.
The last update I did to my ATI drivers/apps was to MMC v9.13 and RW
3.03. As I recall the drivers/apps had to be installed in a particular
sequence, involving no less than five separate load steps. I did have a
problem with the Remote Wonder 9.13, but somehow got it to load. When I
put this system together I was going to purchase the non-Wonder ATI
Radeon 9600 AGP card, but the price difference to go to the AIW 9600
was so low I just went with the AIW version. I had always wanted to
transfer and edit some old VHS and 8mm tapes, but never bothered
getting a converter for my last system. Other than that and using the
TV mode on the AIW 9600 card, there is very little else I have tried.
The TV tuner mode does not produce a very high quality image, with
visible pixalltaion and other artifacts on anything other than a very
small window view. Fortunately, the video capture with this card from
8mm tapes and direct from the camera is very high quality (at least for
NTSC resolution capability).
