Okay so a while ago I think I might've pressed a button that made my volume not work. So I can't hear anything on my computer. I tried going to control panels and then volume & all that, but it says theres no speaker hooked up or something and I can't like check the boxes to make the sound work. So I checked if all the plugs and stuff were in the speakers & the computer, and they are. I've even unplugged them, plugged them back in and all that. I still have no clue why my volume isn't working! & it's really bugging me so if someone could please help me that would be great!
All the plugs are in, but are they all in the right jacks? Check your manual or the webpage for your brand and model. Are your speakers powered up? If they're all correct try a hard reset by shutting down the pc, pulling the plug out of the back, holding the power button down for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and reboot. Otherwise:
Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Device Manager
Open the Device Manager and scroll down to Sound, video and game controllers. Expand that section and right-click on each audio-related line; try to update each device driver; reboot and test. Are you running XP? If they won't update and you haven't changed them by installing something, delete the first audio driver and reboot. Leave your speakers plugged in, XP should reinstall drivers for you. Test and, if the first one didn't work, try the next one until you've tried and tested them all.
That's all my brain can handle, hope something in there is useful.
