Glad to hear you have it going. There is a "scripting program" called AutoIT(free to download and use) that you can use to "automate" that into a desktop shortcut if you are so inclined.

hibernate before going to work
un-hibernate at work
enable LPT1
print!!

Try disable the LPT port in Device Manager before the hibernate at work. Then when at work again Re-enable?

Tried setting the printer to offline before I left the office, used the computer at home, brought it back to the office the next day and put the printer back into online mode. Still no luck. It appears that the only way to restore printer connectivity via LPT1 on docking station is a complete warm boot.
Thanks for the suggestion though, any other ideas?

You know I hadn't thought of it that way, but yes you're exactly right. Stating it the way you do I'm also not surprised at what's happening. I don't really understand the "Use Printer Offline" setting but it certainly sounds like something to try. I'll let you know tomorrow if it works out.
Thanks!

Are you saying that you are "unhibernating" without the printer connected, and then "rehibernating" with no printer, and then "unhibernating" with the printer attached? If so, I'm not surprised you have a "missing connection". Only suggestion I can think of that may save that is try "putting" the printer "Offline" before you hibernate at the office.

Hello,
I've got a Dell Inspiron 8600 and D/Port Advanced Port Replicator running WinXP Pro SP2, with an HP Laserjet 4 connected to the parallel port on the D/Port. The printer installs automatically and I can print fine, until I disconnect and reconnect the laptop. Basically at the end of the day I put the laptop into either standby or hibernate (printing problem occurs with either) and then disconnect the laptop from the D/Port to take it home. That evening I typically use the computer at home, returning to Hibernate before I leave for work, then the next morning I dock the laptop again and turn it on which restores from Hibernate. At this point I can no longer print to the Laserjet 4 printer on LPT1. I've tried restarting the laptop, restarting the printer, running self test on the printer, etc... and the only thing I've found which works is to uninstall the LPT1 port in Windows Device Manager, and then after the laptop restarts I can print again, but only until I hibernate, and the whole cycle starts again.
Any ideas? Shouldn't my laptop be able to hibernate and wake up without affecting it's connection to LPT1? Any help you can provide is much appreciated!
Thanks,
John
