I did disable the sound in the manager as was suggested.
But I still can not disable it in the BIOS. Boot process will not pass
the POST.
I have latest BIOS update. Any other suggestions?
As for the board. This is the first Intel MOBO I am installing and
probably the last one. I newer had problems with ASUS boards. Support
from ASUS is also better.

I'd suggest first disabling the sound card in the Device Manager of Windows
XP. Do not uninstall it, as it will attempt to reinstall during the next
boot.
Then, disable it in the BIOS. This should prevent the problems that you're
having (and should allow you to install the new sound card without any
problems also).

I have an Intel D945Psn MOBO with on board sound. Microphone did not
work, so I have decided to get PCI sound card. I am hawing problems
disabling on board sound. If I use BIOS setting to disable sound,
Window XP SR2 will hang after post. Sound card is working fine and I
have my microphone back, but message about found hardware is popping
out every boot.
Any one had same issues with the Intel card?
