pro supports dual processors/ dual cores, home supports only Dual core as it
sees it as one single processor, if it came installed as dual core then it's
working, if you installed the cpu then to see the dual core you need to do a
repair install to load the drivers for the 2nd core, home will see the
second core if you do the repair install.
DO NOT do this if it came already dual core installed with the operating
system.

thing...

Windows XP Home Edition, brand new installed 3 days ago...Then as far as I know, you would need to have XP PRO 64 bit loaded.

hi, I just bought a new pc with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ cpu. But
windows
recognises it at a AMD Hammer Family processor. I'm not sure if both
cores
are working... is there any solution to let windows know that there
is
a
Dual
Core cpu installed?

What is your OS?

Otherwise, I think your system will only run as 32bit.
I have not looked into this though, since this time last year when MS
launched the 64 bit OS, and that then was my understanding. Technology
changes so quickly.
Didn't the retailer give you any info about this?
