Hello I have a NEC DVD+ RW ND-3530A, and Windows XP SP2, recently I
have had a problem with the drive, when I attempt to make a DVD about
85% of the time it fails and gives an error stating that the disk can
not be written to. However when I attempt to burn a CD there is never a
problem. As stated previously I've never had a problem burning
DVD's, about 4 months ago I bought Verbatim DVD-R I was able to use
about 3 or 4 of them without any problem but the rest have been bad
about 85% of the time. This is the first time I have used Verbatim
disks and have used Sony, TDK and Memorex without any problem, my
question thus is does my DVD RW simply not like Verbatim or is there a
problem with the drive?
Possible the DVD laser has gone caput? Last I remember, there were 2 sets
of lasers, each set contains a read laser and write laser in a CD/DVD-RW,
one set handles CDs the other DVDs - so it is possible for one to quit
working while the other works just fine.
