Re: I think I've killed my computer

Yes I got a windows xp silver shiny cd when I got the computer it is a
registered version but it is a second hand computer they said it was a clean
install though so the fault seems to lie with me ( that and downloading the
Sims off Limewire) p.s. I'm a she I have a about as much luck with cars as I
do computers at least for nowlol. I tried to download of the website given
but Its says I have to be a computer administratpor. Mine is the only account
and has administrator acess there fore aren't I the administrator?
also when I try booting from the cd it says the same thing and arguing with
a screen is no use, it still won't let me load of the disk;P If anyone ahs
ideas that would be wonderful

He's probably got XP but has no CD and doesn't realise you boot from the CD.

To the original poster, did you get a Windows XP CD when you bought the
computer?

Did you get any recovery CDs? Post back with the info and someone will tell
you how to reinstall Windows.

Be very careful as if you create a Boot floppy or use an old one you might
end up deleting all the partitions including the hidden one with the needed
Windows files.

Please repost if you find the fault

Hi more familiar with piano keys than compu

by the way you say your trying to use a floppy disk, can i assume you are
trying to install win98 or similar?

if so you can create a bootable cd for windows 98 to enable you to access
the setup for your OS.

read here for more info..

good luck

I got a little excited getting a new ( old ) computer and started
downloading
a lot of music and games. Unfortunatlye my anti virus was not set up and
now
I am trying to fix the problem by creating a boot disk good idea? not so
much
as the computer doesn't recognize that it has a floppy drive so all I end
up
doing is spinning my wheels so to speak. I've had this computer for less
than
a montha nd I can't even go two seconds without a virus dectected all I
want
is to format the c: drive and start a clean install ( that is I think
thats
what I should be doing )
