Re: Another Q--Maybe I've already got USB 2.0???

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Download the manual from here
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4b533/e1148_p4b533.zip

The information you need on adjusting your bios options starts on page 67.
For USB 2.0 and to make sure it is enabled, see page 95.

Once you have done this, and installed SP2 for Windows XP, make sure you
plug your USB 2.0 device into the USB 2.0 ports (item 25 and 27 as diagramed
on page 21).

If you need to update your bios (I'd go straight to version 1015 beta 3 if I
were you), the instructions to update your bios are in the manual just after
page 67.

As you see, I've been getting conflicting information. I need to
figure out
1. Do I have USB 2.0 ports? (yes, because the ASUS user's
manual says so).
2. Do I have USB 2.0 drivers installed?
3. How do I find out if I have USB 2.0 driver's installed?
4. If they aren't installed, how do I install them?

And this is exactly where the BIOS stuff can come into the way.
Some old BIOSes have an option to disable 2.0 and operate the USB in 1.1
mode.
