Motherboards have video slots in 2 formats...AGP and PCI-E(other wise known
as PCI Express)
both cards 6600GT and 6600 come in both formats to fit either slot.
You needed a card to fit the AGP slot...you still had the choice of a 6600GT
or a 6600 Video card.
The 6600GT is a little more expensive but it also is a much better card.
The 6600 is less expensive but it also is the lesser of the 2
Which one you actually received determines how much you should have paid.
The Box that the video card was in plainly states which card is in the box.
The serial number of the card is needed for registration which will also
tell you which card you received.

Is the express and the 6600 one of the same. I do have the AGP but the
express would not fit in my computer. I did notice a big difference in
price but thought the 6600 was my only option with the type of motherboard
that I have. Now I am wondering if I should go back to Best Buy and see
if they can order the express for my type of motherboard? Anyone know.
Tks

Your original post mentions a 6600GT and you received a 6600???
I would also check to see if you were charged for a
6600GT....................or a 6600
There is quite a bit of difference in the performance of theses 2 cards
not to mention price.

Thanks...... it is AGP. I do have a AMD Athlon 64
processor...3400+....2.40 GHz, 1.00 gb of ram.
For the express card, they deducted 179.99 and charged me 176.99 for the
AGP one plus 34.00 installation.
It sounds like that is the correct one, right? I am sure I paid top
dollar but I was afraid to do it myself.
Thanks

Do you mean you expected a PCI express graphics card but got an AGP
graphics card? They would fit the type suitable for your motherboard.
What motherboard do you have? Although there are a few MBs that take
both AGP and PCI express they are few and far between. Have a look on
the reciept they gave you and see what they charged you for.

Okay, I went to Best Buy and purchased this card at 199.00 with a
instant rebate of 20.00. An hour later they said that card was not
the right connection type and substituted another one which I thought
was another Express one. I had them do the installation too.
When I got home, I noticed that the box was NOT an Exrpress one. It
was a GeForce 6600.
Should I take this card back and complain?
Thanks
Mary
