Use any of the following:
Start, Run, diskmgmt.msc
or
R-click My computer, Manage, Storage, Disk Management
or
Start, Help and Support, search term Disk Management, and follow the links.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance... How do i get to 'disk management' ?

Does it show in Disk Management? If it's not assigned a drive letter, it won't appear in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

The easiest thing to do to get the pictures to your PC is to use a card
reader. I have the same camera but the US version SD400 and have never
connected it straight to the computer as I prefer the reader.

My p.c no longer recognises my Canon IXUS 50 camera, before i could just
plug
and play.
It's not the camera, usb port or usb cable as i've tried these with
different devices, or on a friends computer, i've disabled my anti-virus,
uninstalled/reinstalled the software that came with the camera.
When i connect the camera, i get the ding-dong sound that informs me that
my
p.c has recognised that something is connected to a usb port, but, before
all
i had to do was goto my computer, then click on the camera icon. Now i
can't
find the camera icon.
Thanks for reading, hope you can help.
