The OP stated her laptop uses SDRAM - not so cheap.
Upgrading my older laptop from 256MB to 768MB certainly improved
performance - but I did not suffer the problems reported by the OP prior
to the upgrade. Lack of RAM is not the root cause of her problem. It's
more likely to be a virtual memory configuration issue as Bob I posted.
