I think you are referring to a sata connector this type of dvd/cd drive
should only be used
in a system with a very new motherboard. Older sata motherboards have
problem with this type of drive. Some motherboard makers have bios upgrades
to make them work some do not. To run sata drives a driver must be installed
before installing windows xp but I here that some of the newer boards have
the drivers in the bios.

Some DVD/CD drives have a small connector (about almost an inch wide with
50 pin, I think). These drives are normally of slim type (like the
Samsung TS-L532).
What I'd like to do is to connect this drive to my PC with a regular
80-pin IDE port. Are there cables that work as converter for this ? Or,
is it not compatible to use this type of drive in a regular PC ?
Please comment.
