Re: New Optical 5000 Mouse - Old KB??

Generally speaking, you need to use the original mouse and keyboard if you
want to use only the receiver that came with the desktop set. If you replace
the mouse or keyboard with a new model, one of three things will happen: The
new model will work just as well as the old model; the new model will work
with limited functionality; or the new model won't work at all. There's
really no way to know in advance, since there are too many variables. You'll
have to give it a try and see what happens.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with using a keyboard with its
receiver and a mouse with its receiver. You have to plug them into different
ports, of course, and that means using up an additional USB or PS2 port, and
having yet one more thing on your desk. But you'll lose the wires, and
that's the whole idea, is it not?

I have been using a Wireless Optical Desktop 1.0 KB + Mouse combo. Works
fine.

Just bought a Wireless Optical Mouse 5000.

I would like to continue using the old keyboard and just replace the old
mouse with the new one. (Hate the wavy keyboards!!!)

What's the best approach? Can I use the old receiver with the new mouse?

TIA
