Richard -
Thanks for the link. I installed the program and noted that my HD was
running at 128*F and past critical of 131*F when running other apps. I
moved
the drive to another slot with a fan and immediately dropped to 105*F. Ran
the Quick Scan, producing no problems. Will run the regular when I close
for
the night.
Thanks!!!!
Don

My system hung on an app and I reset. Chkdsk showed 32k in Bad Sector.
Does
this mean I have 32k of data in a bad sector or that I have a 32k
physical
sector that is bad? If I use the command that I found in another post
chkdsk /f /r , will it try to move it to a good location? I recall
y-e-a-r-s ago that Windows or Norton did that. This is the first
encounter
I
have had in many years, so I'm not up to
speed in this area. Is there a "freeware" porgram that I can use to
check
the integrity of my drive? I tried Norton Utilities 2005 Pro and it
checked
the D drive fine, then hung on 0 percent for the C drive. I rebooted
and
it
kept hanging. I had to "Last Know Good..." to get back to Windows. Even
Safe
Mode would not load. Restored and all is fine. So - Norton is out of
the
question.
BTW - I do not seem to have any problems. Just concerned about the 32K.
WinXP Pro SP2 all updates. Maxtor 60gig 6Y060L0.
