It is unclear to me whether your eMachine originally had Win98 installed
and you did an upgrade or if your eMachine came with XP preinstalled
and who knows why you installed the way you did. In any case, you'll
need to go to eMachines' website to get drivers for the hardware. If
you never had XP on this box and eMachines doesn't have a driver
available for the hardware for XP, you're out of luck. Replace the
C-Media card with a new sound card that will have drivers for XP.
C-Media cards are very inexpensive and you can replace one for under
$20usd.
