Com Port 1 & 2 Not recognizing ISO programmer

I'm having trouble getting an ISO programmer to be recoginzed in my Com
Ports and
I have done the following to try and fix the problem with no luck.

1) Downloaded a program called "Microsoft.NET V1.1 still
"Communications Error!"
2) Tried using Com Port 2 and change setting in to Port 2 still
"Communications Error!"
3) Plug ISO programmer into Com Port 1 and re boot then tried Com Port
2
and re boot still "Communications Error!"
4) Downloaded current Microsoft updates for Window's XP re boot try
both
Port 1 and 2 still "Communications Error!"
5) Went into Control panel Device Manager uninstalled Port 1 & 2 re
boot and
reinstall still "Communications Error!"
6) Went into Control panel Device Manager ensured both Port 1 & 2 are
enabled (they were) still "Communications Error!"
7) Tried one of my "old" ISO programmers (Greenlight Go Programmer) and
still "Communications Error!"
8) Did a system check for Com Port 1 & 2 and computer say's both are
"functioning properly"

At this point I'm lost and not sure what to try next. I'm running
Window's XP and I've tried everything I know.

I have also bought a USB/Port adaptor and same alarm. I have tested the
ISO
on a friends computer and it works fine so I assume its something wrong
with
my computer and not the ISO programmer. Please Help!!!
