new memory error

ive got a dual boot system (xp pro and mandriva 2006)
its got a 1.8g amd processor and 256 sdram, im wanting to add extra
memory as ive got a few spare strips of 128 sdram all pc133 slot same
as my board. when i add a strip and turn on the pc , after it gets to
the desktop it does a physical dump the reboots then does another dump
and reboots again???????
CAN ANYONE OFFER ANY SUGGGESTIONS
