My Sony Vaio laptop PCG-FXA36 has stopped being able to write to
CD/DVD. It works for reading CD's and software, but when I put a
blank CDR in, it just clicks and runs for a second or two, and I get a
message that says "disk not inserted in drive". Thinking maybe it was
a driver problem, I downloaded the original and an update, but then
get an error message that says "The target software
suitable for updating is not installed". Does this sound like a
software problem I can fix, or is it time send it to repair? I tried
uninstall the driver and reboot, but no luck. Any help would be
appeciated. Thanks.
It very much sounds like your drive is broken and will need to be
replaced by Sony tech support.
