For the future, if remnants of software installs tend to aggravate you,
investigate an imaging utility such as the one here...

Before making any changes in your system, image the partition. Then fiddle
away. If you do not like what you see, simply restore the image. All will
be as it was, and no detritus will remain. If images are created routinely,
and backed up on removable media, this can be an invaluable tool for getting
rid of unwanted invaders, or quick restoration in case of hard disk failure.
