Re: CD/RW & DVD Drives not responding

(3)Reset Services| Shell Hardware Detection to Automatic. (Path to executable: D:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs)
(4) Downloaded and ran "autorunenable.reg", "XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe", "AutoFix.exe." (from Kellys-Korner.com and dougknox.com)
Still no change. I have numerous programs to re-install and am SEVERELY stuck.
Any help/ideas greatly appreciated.

Old Versions of EZ CD Creator from Roxio has caused this type of thing to happen. Check your Add/Remove programs to see if it is listed. If it is, then it should have been removed before installation.

This article is related to the problem but it requires going into the registry. I am not sure if a better fix has been found by now as this is a pretty old problem. Otherwise get back to us if this is not the case.
