Boot into Safe Mode. Reboot the computer and while it's coming up, keep
tapping the F5 key. You will then be presented with a menu list of which way
you want to boot up. Try Safe Mode with Networking and then see if you can
connect to the internet.

I'm assuming you've already turned off any firewalls and have temporarily
disabled any other programs running in the background (Start > Run >
msconfig ). Did you install SP-2?
