Please HELP! Microphone volume control is not found in the soundcard.

Hello. I would appreciate it if you help me with my problem. The
problem started out when i first restored my pc. I added all the
drivers with a dell representative. Everything went fine, but then When
I started to voive chat with my friends my mic didnt work on yahoo, msn
and netmeeting. I checked by using the sound recorder and my voice
sucessfully recorded. Also net meeting shows an error saying that there
is no microphone control in the sound card. Also, today I tried msn's
voice clips and my voice recorded and then I try to voice chat and the
mic worked, but otherwise it doesnt work. It only works when I do,voice
clips, and only for msn. Please if you know the solution to the
problem,I'd appreciate it!
