I have a Benq FP71G+ monitor but windows tells me that it is a FP705. I am not able to install the correct drivers because the installation wizard does not recognize the driver on the installation cd. The installation cd does not install the drivers, I have to via windows hardware installation wizard.
The drivers for the FP705 causes my computer to reboot frequently and the display to freeze. In windows update the same drivers are listed for the FP705.
When I contacted Benq for help they told me to uninstall the FP705 and install the correct drivers and to only use the correct drivers for the specific monitor I have.
So how do I do this using Windows hardware installation wizard?
First, make sure that you have the correct utility cdrom for the monitor. Next, use the Add Hardware applet to install the monitor file by going to "Have Disk". When asked for location, specify the drive where the cdrom for the monitor has been placed. Either the name of the monitor should appear or there should be a list. Choose the proper one and let the install proceed.
