help on usb external disk problem

hi, i have a problem with my usb external disk.

it used to be working, but today it does not shown up in my computer.
It still shows in device manager under "disk drives".

i searched internet and many suggested to re-assign drive letter in
Computer Management -> Disk Management. Sadly my disk does not even
show up in the Disk Management, so there is no way to re-assign drive
letter or even re-format it (of course i don't want to format it as i
have some important data on it.)

Thanks.
