Re: Problem burning on Mat****a UJDA710 drive

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hello James,

You are not the only one out there with the same problem. I to and a
buddy of mine have/had the same model and have the same problem and
here is what going to happen next:

1. The burner does not work - you know this and there is nothing you
can do to fix this as far as I know except replacing the drive
(Expensive option, about $1100.00 AUD from Toshiba :( )

2. Next you will not be able to read your recovery CD's and any other
CD's. This includes Music, Data, Games and such. To fix everyone wants
you to replace the original drive as in Number 1.

3. Once that happens eventully the DVD reading will stop. You will
clean the drive and it will start working, but after 4 or 5 DVD's it
will start failing again. Again to fix everyone wants you to replace
the original drive as in Number 1.

Well what people do not want to tell you is that you can upgrade this
drive with another model. From what I have found out is that the
UJDA720 and 750 will fit :) (I think also the 730 & 740 but have not
seen anyone do this). You will need to check that the front bezel will
also fit on as well.

BE WARNED your recovery disks will not work as for some reason as it
thinks it the wrong machine, so you will need to either get a OS to
install or create another recovery image from something like Symantec
Ghost.

I am going through options for my machine at the moment so I will keep
you up to date as to the outcomes.

Deadly :D
