DVD write problems with Nero too

Hi,
I've been reading all the posts about the lack of DVD write support in XP
and the advice is always to use a program like Nero. Well I've just puchased
a Memorex DVD writer with DVD+RW support, and it came with Nero, but when I
try to use it to burn files to the DVD it reports "your compilation cannot be
written on this kind of disk. Insert a disk of the correct type or modify the
settings of your compilation to make it compatible with the current disk". It
then says that the required type is CD-R/RW and the type in the recorder is
DVD+RW. See http://diverian.tripod.com/home/Files/NeroErr.jpg.
Anyone else seen this or got any ideas what may be going wrong?
I ran the "Create Data Disc" test in the Nero Toolkit's CD/DVD Speed Test
utility and it successfully wrote 4.5GBytes of files to the disc so the
hardware must be working OK.
Note that I see the XP problem reported numerous times elsewhere in this
forum - when its empty its reported as a DVD RW drive, but when I put the
disc in it is reported as a CD Drive.
