I'm a private person, retired - this response is my personal view.
1/ If you require help from experts, use NON-inflammatory and RELEVANT
subject headers.
2/ Long ago, in UK we had a wonderful comedian (Kenneth Williams, R.I.P.)
who created a charcter called Rambling Sid Rumpole - speciality being
long-winded but extremely funny anecdotes, on radio. You appear to have
inherited the rambling, but, alas, missed out on the humour.
3/ If my understanding is correct, you've been loading incorrect drivers and
BIOS updates on the ill-founded belief that that will improve things (Lord
alone knows what else you've done to your system). One element I empathise
with - Asus m/b support is poor.
That said, my recommendation is - (hope and pray the BIOS you currently have
is viable).
Reformat your hard disk, reload XP and SP2, AntiVirus and all the ORIGINAL
drivers for your kit. THEN configure Windows update to "AUTOMATIC" - and
after you've got a clean working OS, start on software. (and one thing - AVG
Antivirus - FREE - is excellent, AND auto-updates).
If you run into problems, post questions - one by one, with RELEVANT
headers, and short relevant text.
To be clear - this is a technical resource. The guys that give the answers
are in the main professionals. They deal in facts, not opinions - it's not a
debating society! Following the above advice will get you much much better
service.
OK, so I ramble on a bit - but, every point I've made is constructive and
positively helpful. Hope you agree.
