I have 3 computers, all different configurations, with different hardware.
After installing XP SP2 on all of them, I now have network connectivity
issues.
1- two of them are new desktop systems in two different parts of a building
with a LAN card on a T1 network. There is no router box involved. The
connectivity shows both incoming and outgoing packets. I can be connected to
the network for 30 minutes to a couple of hours (internet, IMAP & POP e-mail,
other drives on shared network, IP addressed printers, etc), and then it will
just drop (internet says page not found, yet shared drives still let me
access, networked printers won't let me print to them, IMAP or POP mail won't
connect to server). My connectivity will still show incoming and outgoing
packets. I have tried to do a LAN repair to force it to drop the IP address
and reassign it- no luck. I have installed all drivers possible for the
hardware- no luck. I have disabled unneccesary services in msconfig- no luck.
I have downloaded and ran both Spybot and Ad-Aware to insure I do not have a
hijacker- no luck. McAfee is updated and ran - no luck.
2- the other computer is all the same issues as above, but it is a Laptop
and has a wireless card also. I have disconnected it from the LAN to see if
that was my problem, but I still receive all of the same issues with the
wireless connection.
The only thing that is currently fixing this is re-booting, which is tiresome.
All computers worked fine for months prior to downloading SP2.
Please, please, someone help!
