Hi,

Every time I restart my PC windows seems to lose the soundcards I have
installed.

The symptom of this problem is (apart form the lack of sound) that when I
got into Control Panel\Sounds and Audio Devices the property page shows "No
Audio Device". However if I look in Device Manager I can see my soundcard.
Looking at the properties of the device it shows that it is working fine.

The only way to get sound to work is to uninstall the card through Device
Manager and then scan for new hardware. Once this is complete the soundcard
shows up in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. However if I reboot I
have to repeat the whole process. Very annoying!!!

System details are as follows:

WinXP Home SP1 (can't use SP2 due to some 3rd Party incompatibility issues)
Processor AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Memory 512MB
Soundcard Sound Blaster Live 5.1

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
