There is a way to fix it so you can use the mouse in the port it wasn't
working in, but this requires editing the registry. This may be
something you are not comfortable with, and in this case I would suggest
just leaving things as they are since they work just fine.
If you must, here is how to fix it. First, make sure to remove the
mouse before you delete the folder I explain later. Open Regedit
(Start-Run-regedit) and navigate to HKLM\System\CCS\Enum\USB. Now you
are going to look under each folder labeled Vid_Xxxx and there should be
subfolders containing information about different peices of USB
hardware. Find the ones containing information about your USB mouse.
Now right click on the Vid_Xxxx folder that has the information about
your mouse in it and click Properties. Check Allow Full Control, then
right click on the Vid_Xxxx folder and delete it. Reboot and plug the
mouse back in.
