When you create a partition on a disk drive it needs to be formatted. Right
click My Computer, then Manage and under Storage click Disk Management. You
should be able to format and assign a drive letter from there.

Just installed xp pro on a computer, during setup I
allocated 10gb to seperate partition expecting to be able
to use it for storage of data.
Now there is no sign of it's existance apart from in the
setup screen if I run the disk again.
How do I get the system to recognise it and allocate a
seperate drive number to it?
