USB Ethernet Adapter Driver install.

Hello,
I reinstalled XP and now I can't get my USB Ethernet
Adapter to install the driver. It worked fine before
with XP installed. I downloaded the lasted drivers from
the manufacturer. I've tried
uninstalling/reinstalling/forcing the install/hooked to
my cable modem/not/reinstalled the USB Root Hub/different
cables....hmmmm
XP posted the name under "unknown device".
It is a D-Link DSB-650/TX USB 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Adapter and connects to my cable modem. Cable modem
lights up but then only 2 lights remain.
HELP!
I can't stand using a dial-up connection one second
longer!
