Ive lost a few drives so Ive done reasearch...Broke a few
windows... Your boot configuration is at the very
beginning of your C: drive (MBR) master boot record this
is the index for all the files on the drive, the mbr is on
you active partition which you can only have one of... And
your active partition Must be on the first segment of
drive C: you can have many primary drives (bootable)and
many logical Drives (a file of a primary). Partition Magic
manuals will explain fully. Go slow to not make mistakes
and if you do (Like me) software like Active Uneraser can
read the drives and correct even if Part.Mag and Windows
repair cannot. You can edit buy unhiding windows system
files and hidden files or using dos but make sure you know
that you must back up any files that are important! YOU
COULD LOOSE ALL!!!!! if you make a mistake.... Always
remember that there is allways more than one way to cook
the goose....This is my mbr with no extra drive attached.
Drives
C:&D:

[bootloader]
timeout=30
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="" Microsoft
Windows XP Home
Edition"" /fstdetect

I keep a copy of this text and copy and paste
to the boot ini.txt file in The C: drive in case I screw
up. Yours might be different so you cannot copy and paste
mine to
yours...Aloha..
