What writer are you using... and, what cable are you
using to connect it with? UDMA cable or the older, most
dvdwriters use udma now, also, check for firmware updates
on your writer. I had a similar problem w/an IO magic
drive, however, it just woudnt read DVD, or write them
for that matter, I did everything in my power to fix
it... installed the latest chipset drivers for my board,
latest bios for m.b. and updated to the latest firmware
on drive. No fix, returned it, got a slightly revised
ver. No problems since.
