installing new dvd burner

i'm trying to install a NEC ND-2510A on my older computer
(P-4, 1.3 ghz gateway) and windows add hardware keeps
trying to install it as a printer and dosn't give me the
option to do otherwise(this is the only NEC hardware i
have and when i click on it it comes up as a printer) any
response would be helpful
