Sounds like a bunch of rereads or even rewrites...go to
the event viewer and look for "red x" errors
involving "disk" "ide" or "atapi"; see if you have disk
errors involving a bad block. It is possible that a bad
sector has developed - and possible that a disk scan which
includes mapping out bad block can correct the problem
(I've seen it done). If however there are lots of bad
blocks or they increase in number over the near future the
hard drive itself may be ready to dive. In any case, as
long as you have access to it right now, BACK IT UP...
