Hello everyone,
Here's the history before i get to my problem. I had my
old compaq 5365 completely rebuilt from the ground up a
year ago. It's got a MSI mainboard with a 2.4 gig pentium
4, maxtor 30 gig hard disk drive, and sound blaster audigy
sound card(its quite a beast in my oppinion with a
braodband connection). But running out of $$ at the time i
decided to keep windows 98 se and the old origional
quantum bigfoot 10 gig hard drive as the primary hdd until
i could get a little more money to get xp and rip out the
bigfoot and use it as a doorstop(believe me it makes a
better door stop than a hdd). This past spring the old
bigfoot started to fail, it had sum bad sectors and i was
having to run a disk clean up quite often. SO i took it
back to the service that rebuilt it b4, i also got a deal
from the guy and got xp pro at a pretty good price.
---> Now heres the problem. When he installed xp i guess
he did not install the driver for the usb controller.
since xp was installed i cant use anything, i cant use my
parents hp camera, my creative jukebox zen, or even a
memorex thumbdrive which shud b plug and play on xp. i
think the driver file i need is USBEHCI.SYS thats wut i
need so i can install the universal Serial Bus (USB)
Controller (this is exactly what is shown to have a
problem on the hardware manager, and sez i need that
file). Can any body help me??? I dont have the serial Id #
for xp so i cant simply cal windows or leave them a
message without the # (it was anything illegal he was an
authorized dealer, but he since quit and now i cant use
his help again)
a reply to this post is fine, or email, or even AIM if its
convenient for anybody (my sn is MotorheadDB)
