Hi,

I have posted about this before. My WinXP Pro computer
(SP1a) reboots when I read data off a CD.

As advised, I have already tried the following:

1. Memory: I have tested my modules using memtest86, no
problems found
2. Tried using another CDRom drive: same problem occurs
3. Checked that all my fans are working and removed dust
from inside the computer
(Its a brand new PC, so there was not much dust)
4. Checked all connections, power and IDE
5. Tried using another IDE connector
6. Upgraded the CDROM firmware
7. Upgraded the motherboard BIOS
8. Got latest drivers for motherboard

My Configuration is as follows:

Motherboard: Gigabyte 8IK1100 rev 1.0
CPU: Intel P4 2.6 GHz, HT
Memory: 2 x 256 Mb DDR Transcend modules
HDD: Seagate 120Gb SATA
CD/DVD: BTC CDRW/DVD Combo drive
Graphics: Leadtek GeForce FX5200
PSU: 300W

When I look in the event viewer, I find this entry just
about every time this happens:

Type Date Time Source Category Event
        User Computer
Error 2004/06/09 08:49:36 PM System Error
        (102) 1003 N/A BLUESCREEN

Error code 000000d1, parameter1 026f0018, parameter2
00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 77f52557.

I have looked up info on error 102, but none of the advice
there helped. I have the
minidump files the computer produces when this happens.
Would these help you guys in
finding out what the problem is?

I know that SATA is a relatively new technology, is there
any known issues with winXP
and this?

Please help, my computer is of very limited use with this
problem. If anyone has any
further suggestions or ideas, these would be greatly
appreciated.

(BTW, when I installed my copy of win 2000 pro on this pc,
I could not reproduce this
problem)

Thanks
