weird copying behavior

i'm helping someone using XP for first time. she
selected files off a floppy to burn straight onto CD and
it worked fine. since then, every time she copies FILE X
onto a floppy disk, subsequent floppies are erased and
FILE X is automatically copied onto them too!

also, CD-burning now fails strangely. the software says
it's completed successfully but nothing's on the CD.
this might be an issue specific with the software makers
though...
