      Martin, Shutdown and disconnect the DVD drive. Then Startup and once
loaded rt click MyComputer>Select Prop>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE
ATA/ATAPI Controllers>Primary. rt click and choose Uninstall. Do the same
for Secondary.
 Restart and see what happens. WinXP SHOULD reinstall the IDE controllers.
Shutdown and reconnect
 the Dvd drive. Make sure that the red stripe on the ribbon cable aligns
with Pin 1 on the drive and motherboard and that it's set to correctly
master or slave.
