That "annoying steady beeping" is called an "Alarm". Just like any other
alarm (fire alarm in your home, engine overheat alarm in your car), you
ignore the alarm at your peril.
Your computer is warning you that it is approaching catastrophic failure due
to overheating (it is burning up).
(1.) Open your case, clean out all the dust bunnies, mouse nests, and
other debris.
(2.) With the case still open, start your computer -- visually check your
that your case fan (if any), power supply fan, CPU fan, and video card fan
(if any). The fan that is not spinning is the culprit.
(3.) If the fan in the Power Supply is dead, replace the Power Supply.
Otherwise, replace the failed fan.
