Hmm k Mark. So you've gone into the BIOS
and changed the bootdisk to CD right??
Then chucked the XP CD in and booted from
there? From bootup, and not from within Windows?
Yup it SHOULD work if PowerDVD is installed
as XP needs something like that to play DVD's.
You could try going to the Optorite site to
see if there's an update for the burner, and
also to the Asus site, to get a BIOS update.
(If the motherboard is an ASUS mobo).
Let me know how you go.

okay but not the full install, I will have to try again to write down
exactly what the blue screen says but I think it was something to do with a
setup file, possibly dll. I purchased the system complete as is, online,
but the company are very slow in replying to emails and voicemail messages.
I assume the drive to be master as the cd's work okay, it is just a DVD
problem. The company is teamclockwork.com so I would advise others to avoid
when it comes to a poor support response.
